Port 993 is used for the IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) SSL communication. It is the default port for secure IMAP connections. IMAP is an email retrieval protocol that allows users to access and manage their email messages on a mail server without having to download them to their local device. The SSL encryption provides a secure connection between the client and server, protecting the email communication from interception or eavesdropping.
