Port 176 is used for the distributed computing environment (DCE) endpoint resolution service. It is sometimes referred to as the “epmap” or “endpoint mapper” port. This service is used to locate endpoints for various DCE services, including remote procedure call (RPC) and remote method invocation (RMI) services. It is commonly used in Windows environments for communication between computers and network services.
